About Our Service

Simplify Your Divorce Ltd provides independent McKenzie Friend support services to individuals involved in family court proceedings in England and Wales.

Our aim is to assist litigants in person by providing practical, procedural and administrative support throughout the family court process.

By using our website or instructing us to provide services, you acknowledge and accept the terms of this Legal Notice.

We Are Not Solicitors

Simplify Your Divorce Ltd is not a firm of solicitors and is not authorised or regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or the Bar Standards Board (BSB).

We do not provide regulated legal services or carry out any reserved legal activities under the Legal Services Act 2007.

Nothing on this website, or provided during our services, should be interpreted as legal representation by a solicitor or barrister.

What We Can Do

Our services may include:

• Explaining the family court process.
• Providing practical and procedural guidance.
• Assisting with the preparation of court documents.
• Preparing witness statements and other supporting documents.
• Helping organise court bundles.
• Assisting with court forms.
• Drafting correspondence.
• Providing moral support.
• Attending court hearings with clients where permitted.
• Quietly providing assistance during hearings in accordance with the guidance relating to McKenzie Friends.

What We Cannot Do

We cannot:

• Conduct litigation on your behalf.
• Issue proceedings in our own name.
• Sign court documents for you.
• Act as your solicitor or barrister.
• Provide reserved legal activities under the Legal Services Act 2007.
• Guarantee permission to speak on your behalf in court.
• Guarantee the outcome of any legal proceedings.

All court documents remain your responsibility, and you should carefully review them before they are submitted.

Court Attendance

Where instructed, we may attend court with you as your McKenzie Friend.

Please note that:

• Permission for a McKenzie Friend to attend is ultimately a matter for the court.
• Whether a McKenzie Friend may sit with you, assist you during the hearing or address the court is entirely at the discretion of the judge hearing your case.
• We cannot guarantee that the court will grant any request for rights of audience or permission to conduct litigation.

No Guarantee of Outcome

Every family law case is unique.

Although we aim to provide high-quality support and assistance, Simplify Your Divorce Ltd cannot guarantee:

• the outcome of your case;
• that the court will make any particular order;
• that any application will be successful;
• that documents prepared by us will achieve a specific result.

Court decisions are made independently by judges based on the evidence, the law and the circumstances of each individual case.

Your Responsibilities

As a litigant in person, you remain responsible for:

• Providing accurate and complete information.
• Reviewing all documents before they are filed.
• Signing documents where required.
• Complying with court orders and deadlines.
• Filing documents with the court unless we have expressly agreed to do so on your behalf.
• Making all decisions relating to your case.

Independent Legal Advice

Our services are intended to support litigants in person.

If your case involves complex legal issues, substantial assets, business interests, international matters or other circumstances requiring regulated legal advice, we recommend that you seek advice from a qualified solicitor or barrister.
